The eagle belongs to two worlds: the vastness of the sky and the waters below. IOLAR begins with this ancient meeting of air and sea—and with the lives that have always gathered around them.
The collar is worked in vivid blue crochet, each loop passing into the next in the continuous language of Ériu. Like an endless knot, its rhythm offers no visible beginning and no final end. It becomes Maya’s contemporary interpretation of continuity: different lives, elements and histories held within one unbroken form.
Along its edge, pointed brass elements evoke the powerful talons of an eagle, translating instinct, strength and survival into ornament. At the centre, a startling multifaceted crystal catches and releases light like the changing surface of the sea. Beneath it, the eagle appears with wings outstretched—poised between water and sky.
IOLAR is a meditation on kinship. The eagle above and human life along the shore are distinct, yet both are shaped by the same winds, tides and ancient waters. One existence enters another in patterns older than memory.
Within Ériu, IOLAR becomes a talisman of interdependence, continuity and belonging—a reminder that no life stands entirely alone.
