Medieval societies evolved and revolved around bodies of water, worshipping water for its life-giving quality. The natural coral fragments symbolise the enduring bond between societies and the sea. At the heart of the design is a lapiz lazuli totem, shaped like an elephant tusk, inspired by the belief that an individual's life force is represented by a personal totem.
